30/100 DRAWINGS ON PAPER

 21.0 x 29.7 cm per sheet

Series of 100 drawings, graphite, paper.

each with date and time

This series, which repeats the same object over and over again, is a personal ritual, a pacification mechanism similar to entries in a diary: it allows the flow of time to be felt and reflects the changing state of the artist in the form of different nuances. Witnesses of a viewing process. A seemingly endless sequence of the same motif.

No picture is the repetition of a previous one, but with the complete restraint of every controllable personal impulse of the producer - a reformulation.

In the series, the pictorial subject itself becomes unimportant and finally so completely devalued that only the drawing remains, which in the confrontation with reality vividly examines and at the same time presents its own possibilities, means and modes of action.

As if to capture more of the reality than a single image represented, the same subject was reproduced over and over again at different times of the day. The more precisely the model is attempted to reproduce, the more one leaf differed from the other. Proof that no visual impression can be repeated or multiplied, but has to be performed again and again and under completely new conditions.
